Majid Kazemi

He was born on 20th November 1984 in one of the middle level living complexes in west Tehran. That gave him the opportunity of experiencing a sort of colonial western Life style during the dark days of Iran-Iraq War (1980-1988) which affected his childhood in a different way; so he grew up in an atmosphere of social graffiti protest and skate boarding fearful Iranian youth who were trying to escape the dark days of war in their small unhappy party's and consuming bad quality handmade alcohol drinks. In those days that Music was announced Haram ( Forbidden ) by government and there was no official production of Music inside Iran, people started to use and hear Persian music produced in Los Angles. The same music which was used in wedding party's, Birthday Party's and every other occasions. Majid also started to hear the same music which was used by the Family and Friends. But later on as he grew a little more when he was 14 by an accident he found an Album from Michael Jackson ( Bad ) that affected him in very serious way. Specially a Song called ''Leave me Alone''. A year before this accident his elder sister Mali started to take private guitar lessons at Home and so she bought a guitar which was kept hidden all the time from young Majid. But he managed a trick to steel this guitar whenever Mali wasn't around. An a year before this event Majid took two hours of Tonbak lessons by an old former member of Shah's Army, which led him to buy a Santoor though he was not interested in Persian Traditional music. But playing around with Santoor taught him a lot about scales and Orph and alphabet of music. Like mentioned before because he wasn’t interested in Persian traditional music at some point he owned his sisters guitar and never gave it back and started to teach himself scales and chords using his musical creativity and his natural talent. And then the Big Bang happened. He found Pink Floyds ''Wish you were here'' on an illegal copy cassette. In the same year somebody gave him a book as a gift which was David Gilmour's guitar notes of the same album. Majid using his natural talent sat down and started to compare the sounds that he was hearing on the album and the notebook. So he learned solfeggio and his musical knowledge jumped to another level. Because he was always interested in composing music, this period of learning scales and notes turned into a very fast and short period of three years until he started to compose sound and music using his musical knowledge of his main instrument guitar. He was 19 at that time. two years before these events he was graduated from the high school at the age of 17 he went to do his military service right after his graduation because he wanted to get his Passport as soon as possible. Later he became student in south branch of Azad university of Tehran studying major Mechanics. The whole duration of being a student last three years and half for Majid. He was doing music very much more serious in this whole period of the days mentioned since graduation in the high school till graduation from the university. Another important experience that he had was the story behind how he bought his first electric guitar. Because his father was not agree with the price that he had to pay for buying the instrument for Majid, he was against Majid playing E-guitar. So Majid went to one of working class down towns of Tehran where his uncle owned a Baker shop; Baking bread for more than three months he made something around three or four hundred dollars which he payed for his first E-guitar. Though when his father found out that he had to work in his uncles Bakery he was very angry of Majid.
